OUR STORY
In 2011 Vice President Joe Biden and Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra created the “Apps Against Abuse” challenge to inspire citizens to build a mobile tool to prevent sexual violence on campus. Taking a public health approach, we tested Circle of 6 with students, and learned from the experience of survivors, experts and LGBTQ users, to design a tool that meet young people where they are. After winning the White House challenge (wow!) we were inspired to get this app into as many hands as possible, and are thrilled to see it spread into 36 countries around the world, and on college campuses of all sizes across America.
OUR ETHOS
We know how hard it can be to reach out when you need help, or to talk about things that are awkward, confusing -- or worse. We respect your privacy and collect no personal data, so you can be comfortable making choices and asking for help while using our app. We’re inspired by stories people share from around the world about staying connected, helping each other and feeling more confident because of Circle of 6. Our goal is to make the world a safer and healthier place with technology that enhances friendship and trust.
